For foreign investors, registration with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission and related approvals are often a first step. Property transactions carry their own requirements. Because the Land Use Act vests land in the State Governor, most transfers of a statutory right of occupancy require the Governor’s consent to be valid, alongside proper perfection through stamping and registration.
