Old law. New firm.
Old Stone Legal was built on a simple observation: the law endures, but the way it is delivered should not stand still. We took the standards of a traditional senior practice and rebuilt everything around them, online, across three legal systems, for clients whose lives and businesses do not stop at a border.
The firm at a glance
Good legal advice has never depended on a building. It depends on the judgement of the person giving it, and how close they stay to your matter.
The principle Old Stone Legal is built on
The name
Why Old Stone.
The oldest stones in any city are the ones the rest was built on. That is how we think about the law: foundations laid over centuries, still carrying the weight of everything above them. Our name is a commitment to that permanence, to advice grounded in principle rather than fashion, and to standards that do not move when circumstances do.
Everything else about the firm is deliberately new. The way you reach us, the way documents move, the way matters are run and reported on. Old stone underneath, modern practice on top.

Why online
Built for the way clients actually live.
Our clients run companies from two continents, own property in a country they left years ago, and build families across borders. A firm with a fixed address serves the people who can get to it. We wanted to serve the people who cannot.
Working online is not a compromise we made. It is the design decision the whole firm follows from: senior lawyers, qualified across Nigerian, English and Canadian law, available wherever you are, with every document, signature and update moving through secure digital channels.
- No travel, no waiting rooms, no appointment slots built around a building
- One matter, one lead lawyer, however many jurisdictions it touches
- Secure handling of documents and signatures from instruction to completion
What we stand for
Six principles, applied to every matter.
These are not values on a poster. They are the working rules every practitioner at the firm is held to, on every instruction.
Senior judgement, first-hand
The lawyer advising you is the lawyer doing the work. Nothing is handed down to someone you have never met.
Plain language
Advice you can act on without a translation. If a letter needs a lawyer to explain it, we rewrite the letter.
One point of contact
Cross-border matters involve many hands. You deal with one of them, and that person coordinates the rest.
Transparent scope and fees
You know what we are doing, what it costs and how long it takes before any work begins. No surprises, at any stage.
Discretion as default
Sensitive matters stay sensitive. Confidentiality is not a policy we point to, it is how the firm operates day to day.
The governing law, properly
Every matter is advised on by someone qualified in the legal system that actually governs it. No borrowed expertise.
Working with us
What you can expect as a client.
Straight answers to the questions most people want to ask before instructing a firm they have never walked into.
Regulation
Modern delivery, traditional obligations.
Every Old Stone Legal practitioner is admitted and regulated in the legal system they advise on. The way we work is new. The duties we owe you are not.
Nigeria
Nigerian Bar Association
Our Nigerian practitioners are called to the Nigerian Bar and practise subject to its rules of professional conduct.
England & Wales
Solicitors Regulation Authority
Our English law work is carried out by practitioners regulated by the SRA and bound by its standards and regulations.
Canada
Law Society of Manitoba
Our Canadian practitioners are regulated by the Law Society of Manitoba and practise under its code of conduct.

The people
Small by design. Senior by rule.
We did not build Old Stone Legal to be the biggest firm in any of our jurisdictions. We built it to be the one where the person you speak to on day one is still leading your matter at the end. Meet the practitioners behind the firm, from our practice leads in Nigeria and the UK to the notarial desk in Canada.
